In our thoughts---
23. May 2017 at 19:29

I just read this on the Church in Cotford St Luke's Facebook page---

"We are meeting on the church land at Cotford St Luke tonight at 8.30pm to light candles and pray for those involved and affected by the awful events in Manchester last night."

Thought I'd post it on here for anyone who may not do Facebook but would like to be there --- xx

I think it refers to the propensity for Scousers to engage in excessive levels of over-sentimentality and what is known colloquially as "grief whoring."

Maybe I need to put my hands up, then and admit that I phoned Rev. Allison just before 7pm on Tuesday evening and asked if we could meet on the Church land at dusk to light candles and place flowers ---

It was because of my phone call that she had the message put on the Church Facebook page and I then copied and pasted it onto the Forum.

It wasn't to do with being over-sentimental --- it was to do with an inbuilt need of mine to, when disaster strikes, turn to someone in prayer in the hope that the evil in this world may be overcome---

(---and to do with the fact that it could have been my grandkids in that auditorium--- )

I'm afraid, Marilyn, that prayer, God, and religion is the root cause of much of the evil in this world Angry
