Thanks for the info on the Tugo app for O2 but I already looked into that and it's currently only for private use and not PAYG or business tarrifs. It's probaly too difficult to work out the billing process for phones with shared bundles.

To get around it my company paid for an O2 'boost box' which basically does the same thing (carries the voice data over your broadband connection). The downside is that it cost about 150.

I've looked at all the carriers network maps and they all have patchy coverage for Cotford.

Its madness that its come to this JT, O2 are rolling out 4G today ! you would think it would be a good idea to get a decent 3G before they roll out new technology

Perhaps we should be grateful as reading today BT are cutting dial up broadband and there are still hundred's of thousands on the service that live in the remote areas of this isle so a mobile signal when most houses have telephones can't be that bad a problem surely   Smiley

Here's some info from the BBC website which will be of interest to us, looks like things are moving along quite nicely.

Many thanks, itsmeagain. Helpful.

I've been trying to find out via BT and a site called samknows (given to me by a BT person!!) and I know Mike Rigby is on the trail too, trying to clarify.

Can't believe that if BL is being done, we won't be too, but apparently that's a possibility. I also find it difficult that nobody at Somerset County Council or whoever else is involved can't tell us.

Fingers crossed that we get some definite news soon.......

Talktalk have upgraded their kit and I'm testing at 4.5Mbps now, up from 3.5Mbps.  Cheesy

My Download speed tests at 4.17 which is about the average that I have experienced for the past 3 years. However my up load speed has increased to 0.94 when it has averaged around .35 for the last 3 years. I am with BT.

Many thanks, Stu.

Question is: will it include Cotford too? Nobody seems to know. Fingers crossed......

One of my key priorities since election is to sort out the broadband service in Cotford St Luke.  I heard time and again during the election about how poor the service is.  I may live in Bishops Lydeard but be in no doubt, I am clear that Cotford St Luke should be prioritised when it comes to upgrading the broadband service.  Many, but not all, premises in Bishops Lydeard can already achieve decent speeds; I'm getting 14Mbps as I write this (sorry) without the upgrade.  That said, Bishops Lydeard will be benefiting first under the Connecting Devon & Somerset scheme because it's where the exchange is located.  However, I am confident that once the exchange is upgraded over the next few months, Cotford St Luke will not have to wait much longer before it too benefits from the upgrade with fibre optic cables being dragged through to the local cabinets.  I'll continue to post updates as the timescale becomes firmer.
