As one of the team of Friends of Dene Barton Community Hospital, I would like to say something about this little hospital which nestles in our village.

For many people the only time it is spoken of is when visitors arriving by car ask for directions to its location along the leafy lane leading past South Villas.

The hospital, set in pretty grounds, with banks filled with primroses and spring flowers in abundance at the moment, is an annexe of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and therefore serves a wide community.

It is a modern and well designed building with a friendly 'cottage hospital' feel, provided by the Matron and her team of caring staff.

The main aim of the recently formed 'Friends' group is to support this hospital by raising funds to provide those little extras that will make patients' stays more comfortable.

The coffee Morning, advertised in the previous post, is the first of these fund raising endeavours.

One encouraging factor is that, by supporting these projects, we know that any enhancements for patients' experiences in Dene Barton Community Hospital could one day benefit each of us or those we care about.......  Smiley

I can only support what you say 'Friends'. My mother was there for 3 months until she passed away last year (she loved the fish pond!) and I spent considerable time in the hospital and found the environment nice and the staff excellent.

Just thought I'd bring this to the front page for the Friends of Dene Barton as their Coffee Morning happens in Bishops Lydeard's village hall this Saturday 30th April.

Looking forward to coffee, cake and conversation ---------- all about the Royal Wedding the day before, no doubt!   Smiley

Nobody has made Cakes and Bread Pudding for tomorrow and if the bowl lickings are anything to go by it will be the early bird/s that get the worms cakes in the morning. Yum Yum
