Our fingers are crossed that we can get this up and running. It has always been agreed that the 6 to 12 year olds have been sadly ignored, now we are so nearly there at getting the show on the road.  Fingers crossed that nothing and no one prevents this from happening.

The Community will do their very best to ensure that our children get the very best.

Tony has now begun to turn his attention towards the needs of the 12-18 year olds.  But he cannot do this on his own.  Parents need to get involved; so that their children's needs can be heard and hopefully; met.  I am sure that the Association has always been willing to listen and help our young villagers achieve what they want.  But the Association can only do so much with limited resources (volunteers; facilities and money).  The Association needs parents to help Tony.  Please come forward and contact Tony accordingly.

If The Association could tell me how to contact Tony Freeman, I will do that.

Following a chance meeting with our PCSO, Sue Thompson, I have now met and spoken to Tony Freeman!

He has explained to me how he has been working and liasing with Taunton Deane Borough Council over the past eighteen months, culminating in the proposed  play equipment (zip wire, slide and tyres,) being agreed to be installed in December this year. He is currently working on the provision of other facilities for the youth in the village ----- i.e. a BMX track!

I told him there may be parents willing to help him with anything (myself included) but that they may not know how to contact him. Tony asked me to tell Forum users that he can be contacted at 4, Burge Crescent.  Just a note pledging help and a contact number may be useful to him.

Well done Marilyn,Good job you had that chance meeting and got to speak to Tony Freeman and what I like the most is that you have had the forsight to give us all an easy link to contacting a member of this illusive commitee. Now that I have that easy link I will certainly be posting my details to him.I must say that I don't think I will now be the only one doing so ,now that you have given an easy direction.
Often people complain that parents etc aren't getting involved enough for their children in these matters, but the details of who to contact and how to contact them seem few and far between. So when you are working long hours often you don't have the time or energy to spend searching back through months of chat to maybe find a lead to maybe an email of someone who maybe able to direct you.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe within this site there could be a permanent place with contact details of assocation representatives/members etc maybe compiled by somebody who has these details so that people like myself can then offer support without having to have a chance meeting with the local pcso.

There is a community association website which has contact details on it: www.cotford-st-luke.com
However, it doesn't get updated and is frequently down (and is down currently).
Next time it is up it might be prudent for someone to grab the contact details and post them on the forum, I could get them from the notice board I guess.

I have just managed to access the Community Association's website-----it has a fresh, new look and a comprehensive list of all the Committee Members' Contact details!

If I knew how to copy and paste, I'd put them on here as you suggested, Meldrew - but just clicking on the link you've given and then on 'contacts' will bring the relevant page up!  Smiley

Lets hope that this piece of news doesn't mean that this never gets off the ground:

No kidding! I see the Daily Mirror was trying to shift the Brown economic legacy onto Camerons shoulders today (even though Osbourne is actually in charge of the economy at the moment), slavishly loyal, even after the dead horse has been flogged.

Reality is, though, that even the BoE is saying we're still going to experience growth and the "double dip" is unlikely. However, belts still need to be tightened so it would be likely our playground will bite the dust, as it isn't already under construction.

Of course, we could always do what we did under Thatcher and launch an appeal to raise funds, hold jumble sales and the like - y'know; have a whip around.

Approximately four years ago; the Association was advised by TDBC that there was £28,000 left over from the Section 106 monies.  After consultation with the village; it was decided to ask TDBC to build a 6-12 year old play area and in doing so, right the wrong that was done many years ago to this age group.

I have just deleted my last post, in which I agreed with Tempus that if the funds are not forthcoming from local Government for this project, then we should think about fund raising ourselves ---- then I remembered this post from Flarion.

Surely, then, the Council are committed to seeing this through as this money is the village fund.

Surely we could all get together to shift some earth over the Pentaque area to make a BMX track. That won't cost much.
That's such a useless piece of land, why it was ever put there I'll never know. It's not like it's a mainstream sport or anything.

Is that the rectangle of gravel in the corner? I wondered what that was for - always thought it was something to do with drainage!

The issues we discuss on here must often be on the agenda at Committee Meetings.

It would be helpful if the dates of forthcoming meetings could be published on the Forum or the Association's website so that any residents interested in helping with community matters could attend and offer their support.

If anyone from the Committee is reading this, would it be possible for that to happen?  Huh
