'yellow bubbles' takes the little ones into Wizard of Oz land!

And they could be accompanied by a tin man, a lion and a scarecrow to protect them from wicked witches and stray meer cats!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

From my kitchen window I have a view of Graham Way at the bottom end of the village.

Every weekday morning I can watch the parents taking their little ones to school across that main road as they make their way to the St Lukes Mews footpath.

Youngsters on bikes or scooters or simply hop, skip and jumping often arrive at the 'yellow bubbled' crossing point way ahead of Mum or Dad who try to keep up pushing buggies laden with infants and school bags.

The traffic along that road is also busy at that time with people driving to work.

It is encouraging to notice that cars approaching this point, almost treat it as an official Pedestrian Crossing.
They slow down, even when there is no-one at the kerbside, and check for children before driving on.

We often have a moan on here about inconsideration so I just wanted to redress the balance : it is heartwarming to know that the majority of people in Cotford have introduced this code of courtesy.  Smiley

Who on earth could you be talking about?!!  You'll probably find most people haven't read it which is why nothing has been done about it.  I just feel that (without wishing to get all biblical) that he who is without sin should cast the first stone.  As long as the people who keep an eye on the citizens of Cotford's parking habits can say that they are totally law abiding in every aspect of their behaviour on all occasions, then by all means go ahead and bring it up at the meeting.  It would be hypocritical to criticise other people for breaking the law if, for instance, you couldn't honestly say that you always always stuck to the speed limits when driving.  As we are all well aware, even just a few miles an hour over the speed limit can seriously endanger the lives of other motorists and pedestrians.  But I think we're getting off topic again.  I just don't like high and mighty attitudes.  A little humility goes a long way.

I'm a bit lost! Most people haven't read what, half and half?

I have just written a post (above yours) about how courteous drivers have been. All nice and positive - and incidentally, I started this thread and I was about to write this evening that the problem parking that I had encountered on the 'yellow bubbles' seems now to have alleviated itself (by coincidence or as a result of our posts? - to me, it doesn't matter - it happened and it makes crossing the road safer.)  Smiley

I don't think there were any 'high and mighty attitudes' employed here, Half n Half.  All we did was to point out how difficult and dangerous it can be when cars are parked obstructing crossing points.  I am sure that I have gone over the speed limit at times and therefore am certainly not casting stones but I do try to avoid speeding, or  parking irresponsibly or any other illegal motoring offence and if I was to do any of the above, I certainly would feel humbled when reading other residents feelings about it.  It would make me think twice about my actions.

I had noticed this too....crossing points have become uncluttered which is fantastic.  Long may this last!   Smiley

Some one hit a nerve Half n half, yes i may have broken a few motoring laws but not intentionally but i always without exception park considerately, and yes i will bring it up at my next meeting even though the problem seems to be getting better, not because I'm getting on a high horse but because i believe other peoples safety matters.
