The Chapel

What a fantastic New Year's Eve party at the Chapel.  The food was without doubt quite extraordinary and the entertainment great fun.  Well done to Shaun and Kim and al the staff who are so loyal and hard working.

For those who I understand complained about the need for a charge, you need to consider the cost levied by the pubs and restaurants in Taunton, many of whom did not provide food (certainly not of the quality and quantity at The Chapel) or entertainment.

My family, like many others, really value this pub.  It has become the focal point for the village - in fact it gives Cotford a village feel.  I feel comfortable that, despite it being our village pub, it will evolve as the word gets out to be a big draw to others outside of Cotford to visit and enjoy the atmosphere and food.

Please lets not forget what Cotofrd would be like without this resource and facility - an empty housing estate on the outside of a mediocre town.  There will always be those shallow enough to moan and complain about the slightest thing who never bother to do anything themselves for the village, but please lets applaud the efforts being made at great cost I am sure, to provide us with a vibrant yet relaxing pub and restaurant within walking distance from our homes.

Congratulations Shaun and Kim.  You've regenerated Cotford.  Thank you.

I have to congratulate Kim and Shaun on the installation of the log fire. It provides a cosy focal point and I am looking forward to Marilyn's 'chatathon' on Wednesday lunchtime when we can gather round and put the world to rights.

Hey - Just in case you haven't heard, there's a good do at The Chapel on Sunday Night (28th March).
Colette, (one of the Chefs) is leaving us for new horizons in Australia. So Shaun & Kim are putting on a bit of a do to thank her for her services.
Bin Laden, sorry, I mean Jordan (the other chef) will be supplying the music with his band, if you have not heard them they are really good. So come along on Sunday evening as I am sure that a certain poet will be dancing the night away!
PS. Please do not tell the Americans that Bin Laden is cooking in Cotford. Wink

I must add my congrats to Shaun & Kim for a great night. The music nights at the Chapel are becoming increasingly popular, and though it obviously means a bit of furniture humping, many folk seem to appreciate the opportunity to Dance. (I think that is what they call it, looks more like wobbling to me).
The band were really good with a superb vocalist, if not just a tad loud for the old farts like me.
The Band is called "Halcyon" and are worth looking out for, but I will always think of them as (Jordans) Bin Laden's Band.
Best wishes to Colette in her future 'down under' and hope that you enjoyed your send off.

Much fun and hilarity had here, too. Judging from the inability to do anything other than repeatedly clout the snooze button this morning I imagine I was as deliciously inappropriate as I usually seem to end up being whenever I cross Seans threshold and one of the staff misguidedly accedes to my enthusiastic and repeated requests for lager!!

One of Ozzie Bin Liners many brothers who was part of the Bin Liner construction business built some palacial gated residences with landscaped grounds on a bit of land near my old village. Having farmed them off to passing stockbrokers and others of that ilk for a tidy profit he apparently celebrated by spending some of the proceeds on a shiny new microlight, which he promptly crashed into a wheat field with appropriately fatal results.

I reckon the septics can't find the real Bed Linen because he's donned a burqa and slipped off somewhere. He's probably living quietly in Croydon. On full benefits.

As far as I recall, you were fine Anvil (mind you my memory of the latter end of the evening is somewhat hazy)  lovely to meet up with the well known regulars as well as meet some new friends (just for the record, Henry, I don't normally talk with such a pronounced slur..there must have been something untoward in my glass!  wonderful to meet you and your wife though, at last).
