It was the promise of cheap electricity, limitless in its supply, that swung opinion. Given that the consultation documents indicate that the new plant will have a base operational life of sixty years and in practise they frequently extend this (Hinkley "A" being a case in point, not to mention other reactors around the country) I don't see any alarming increase on the horizon.
